Your trip to Philippines begins today when you land in Manila. You can choose an optional tour to explore the city. The tour starts right in the heart of the country’s financial center - the City of Makati. First stop is Nielsen’s Tower along Ayala Boulevard. Drive through Forbes Park, an exclusive residential enclave fittingly dubbed Millionaire’s Row on your way to our first stop – the American Cemetery and Memorial - reputed to be the largest and most beautiful of American memorials outside the Continental United States. Then proceed to the old city of Manila via scenic Roxas Boulevard (also known as Dewey Boulevard in the recent past), passing through Luneta Park (also called Rizal Park in memory of the country’s national hero) on your way to the "Walled City" of Intramuros. Here you will see ancient walls, church ruins and other relics of the Spanish Conquistadores. Travel through the cobbled streets to San Agustin Church, the oldest stone church in the country. You will wrap up the tour with a visit to Fort Santiago, a Spanish fortress that watched over the entrance to Manila’s Pasig River.
You can explore the city of Manila at your own leisure or you can opt to head out of the city to the panoramic Tagaytay. About an hour and a half drive south of Metro Manila lies the picturesque City of Tagaytay. Located on a ridge 2200 feet above sea level, it offers a panoramic view of Taal Lake and Volcano - a lake within a volcano within a lake within a volcano. This awe-inspiring vista is best savored atop the Palace in the Sky - the resthouse of former President Ferdinand Marcos. On the way to Tagaytay, you will stop by the San Jose Church in Las Pinas to see the world famous Bamboo Organ built by Spanish priest Father Diego Cera in the 19th century. Made from about 800 bamboo pipes, the organ is said to produce a sound unlike any other. You will also have a chance to visit a local jeepney assembly plant for an inside look on how this popular mode of transportation unique to the Philippines is built. Time permitting, you may also have a chance to stop by a pineapple or coffee plantation to sample the local produce or buy souvenirs from the numerous roadside wood carving and furniture shops. After returning from your optional tour you will embark for Boracay.
Today you are on the island of Boracay. You can choose to sample the off beat rural experience that Philippines has to offer. Go on an optional tour of Boracay. Meet your English speaking guide at Cagban Jetty Port and travel to Caticlan in the Malay area. Jump on a trike and travel past rice fields along the rough Barangay Road to Malay Poblacion. See the City Hall and typical Barangay community centre. Take a walk through the caves to see bats, stalactites and stalagmites. The caves are surprisingly spacious and easy to explore with many open chambers. After lunch there is time to take a siesta or swim in the river. Head back to the trike for the short journey to the Motag barangay. On the way see coconut oil production and coconut drying. Visit the SKA Ladies Cooperative to learn the art of making soap from entirely natural ingredients. There’s also a chance to get hands on and make a woven palm leaf bag, a material known locally as banig. Take the trike back to the jetty for the return trip to Boracay island. The tour finishes at Cagban Jetty.
Today you can spend the day on your own, and relax on the beach.
Today you will embark for your next destination, Cebu. On reaching Cebu you can opt to head out and go on an afternoon city tour with dinner. The afternoon panoramic tour is devoted to Cebu City's hilly land, which comprises one third of the City’s land area. Start enjoying the city sights as you drive thirty five kilometers up the mountain, passing by the mango orchards in Busay, the cut flower gardens at TapTap, and a brief stop at the Ayala Nature Park. Take sometime to rest and browse through a roadside fruit and vegetable market and taste Cebu’s sweet corn on the cob. The evening's highlight is a rendezvous at “The Tops” to watch the city awaken at night in full panoramic view. Then Cap your wonderful evening with a quiet dinner of Filipino/Spanish cuisine at a hilltop restaurant called Chateau de Busay. Bring a light jacket and enjoy a cool evening!
Today you can head outdoors and take in all the adventure Cebu has to offer! Go on an optional island hopping tour to Cebu. Drive to Mactan Island, as your jump off point for a day in the sun. Take your “banca” (motorized canoe) and head to Hilutungan Island for a snorkeling adventure in a marine sanctuary. Go fish feeding andsoon you will have these colorful creatures feasting from your hands. Go to deeper waters at the reef for a cool swim or a free dive; then continue to Nalusuan Island or the farther Pandanon Island, for a delightful picnic lunch of grilled seafood, chicken or pork and fresh fruits for dessert. Take a nap or doze a bit after lunch. Or get into an animated discourse with bare-chested fisher folks or boat handlers. Whatever your choice of activity to while away your time will surely be unique experience of relaxation and fun.
